Challenge

The client relied entirely on traditional Active Directory management, making it difficult to deploy applications, enforce security policies and manage devices remotely. Devices needed to be migrated into Microsoft’s modern management platform without disrupting day-to-day business operations. The project also required Microsoft Entra Connect to synchronise on-premises Active Directory with Microsoft Entra ID while preserving existing user and device identities.

Approach

I designed and implemented a hybrid identity and endpoint management solution that allowed the organisation to transition towards cloud-managed devices while retaining its existing Active Directory infrastructure. The project included deploying Microsoft Entra Connect, configuring Microsoft Intune as the primary endpoint management platform, enabling automatic MDM enrolment through Group Policy, configuring Hybrid Microsoft Entra Join, troubleshooting device registration and enrolment issues, migrating Windows devices into Intune, creating compliance and device configuration policies, deploying applications, configuring Windows Update policies, and validating synchronisation between on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft cloud services.

Outcome

The organisation successfully transitioned from traditional on-premises device management to a modern hybrid management model. The completed solution delivered centralised cloud-based device management, remote application deployment, automated Windows Update management, simplified device provisioning, improved security through compliance policies, enhanced visibility across managed endpoints, and a scalable foundation for future Windows Autopilot deployments and cloud-first management.
